May 2011 ARTFEST RESIDENCY, BORSEC, ROMANIA

The town and the surrounding area are well known for their spas and best mineral waters of Europe. You may try eight types. The resort is surrounded by a curtain of coniferous forests which makes a gorgeous landscape and protects it from heat in the summer and cold winds in the winter. The residency is in a beautiful house from the central area of the upper town. The town is located at the base of Carpathians. Upper town it is at 2 kilometers from the town's square, at an altitude of 950m.

ARTISTIC FIELDS It is going to be organized with young artists, under 35 years, from all over the world by Artfest Association, a Romanian non-profit art organization. Work is individual or collective; it depends on anyone's will, proposals are welcomed. DURATION One week, it starts from 1st of May to 7th (you may extend your stay up to a month).

PLACE The surroundings are quiet and inspiring; the wooded and stone house has all modern facilities and a large courtyard. You will meet worldwide and Romanian artists -discover Transylvanian mountains and their green forests that are at 3 minutes walk. We can arrange for you to keep a reading, performance, exhibit in the central area of the town.

FACILITIES There are single and double rooms with bathrooms, TV etc. And around it there are two large parks and beautiful old buildings even they aren't now inhabited. You can easily find restaurants to eat (4-6 Euros) and stores to buy food and affordable prices. You can cook also in a full equipped kitchen, at the residency.

COSTS 95 Euros/week, payable after arrival. That includes: accommodation, dinner, car transfer at arrival from Borsec bus station or Toplita train station, guidance to visit the area, hiking on Carpathian mountains, visit of area's attractions ( caves, the Fairytales Place, mineral water spas, mineral water museum etc)

Airlines: best internationally connected airport is Cluj city Airport from where you can travel by train to Toplita town and you will be picked up by us. Good connection you have with the company www.wizzair.com but also with www.tarom.ro and www.carpatair.ro

Targu Mures airport, a smaller one, is at 130 kilometers to Borsec, but it is the closest from Borsec and has inexpensive flights from Budapest, Hungary, from London and other destinations from Europe (see www.wizzair.com)
